Remote testing is as reliable as clinic testing

People who complete Cognitron at home, without supervision, produce results comparable to people tested in person by a trained assessor.

Across several studies, the setting made no meaningful difference to results:

Traumatic brain injury. People with TBI tested remotely or in clinic showed no significant effect of testing setting on performance (Del Giovane et al. 2023).

Healthy older adults. 44 people completed the assessment both supervised and unsupervised, with no difference between settings on cognitive tasks. Differences on two motor tasks were explained by the type of device, not the setting (Gruia et al. 2025).

Population scale. 112,964 adults tested remotely without supervision: the test was sensitive enough to identify subtle cognitive changes (Hampshire et al. 2024).

Remote testing saves time and money, and it makes regular monitoring and large-scale testing achievable. Full references are on Science & Evidence.
